Skills4Work Productivity Summit
For those not convinced that “lean” is the way to go, presentations from the speakers at the Skills4work Productivity Summit held in Hamilton on 28th July would have changed their minds!
Around 70 people gathered at the Waikato Stadium to hear Rod Oram speak on productivity in New Zealand and we heard first hand from those that have been on the lean journey with Skills4Work and the transformation that this journey has brought to their businesses. Patrick Clement and Liz Ru of Nufarm Industries and Steve Howse and Liesle Jacobsen from Hill Laboratories shared with the audience their experiences on the lean road and the benefits, not just on the bottom line, but in terms of changes in organisational culture. Paul Barker from the Department of Labour, funder and sponsor of the case studies written by Owen Harvey spoke of government initiatives in the field of productivity. One of Waikato’s champions of lean and well known business leader, John Cook of Stainless Design, shared with the audience the transformation that lean has brought to his business.
Skills4Work would like to extend their thanks to those that were willing to share their stories with our audience, the Department of Labour for their support of these initiatives and to the participants in the Summit.
