Ivan Fisk Winners for 2010
This year’s 2010 Ivan Fisk Scholarship winners have been announced. The five winners come from a variety of mechanical engineering backgrounds and locations across the country.
The scholarships drew a high level of interest with the applicants covering a wide variety of specialty engineering trades including general engineering, fabrication, and refrigeration and air conditioning.
The Ivan Fisk scholarships are dedicated to mechanical engineering apprentices who have completed their apprenticeship and wish to progress on with their study at Level 5 or higher.

Two reservist applicants have also been selected in case a scholarship winner is unable or does not wish to undertake their chosen study programme during 2010.
One of this year’s scholarship winners is Chris Carswell from Tauranga, who has previously spent several months with the New Zealand Antarctic operations at Scott Base.
Two of this year’s applicants are currently studying for their Bachelor of (Mechanical) Engineering and Engineering Industrial Management degrees.
This indicates that continuing on to higher qualifications after completing an apprenticeship is definitely becoming more popular, and a rewarding career option.
